I Had breast Cancer, But the Breast Cancer did not have me

Afraid, Mesmerized and Perplexed, I said, "Lord Why Me?" These were a few among the many thoughts that plagued my mind. In April 2003 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and April 2021 it will be 18 years of being cancer free! Hallelujah!!!

Before I begin to give my miracle testimony of what God has, will and can do for you, if we just put our trust in Him!  I must tell you how important the number three is to me. I was diagnosed in 2003 after having a lumpectomy and 18 lymph nodes removed from my right arm on may 9, 2003. Three weeks later the business that everyone knew as "A Caring Touch Funeral Services" , it closed on May 31, 2003.
Being the Founders of a business that was so anointed and having the doors closed out of the blue without any warning, it was devastating  to say the least, but God... was still there. After three days of being in shock from the lost, God gave Me and my husband  the strength and direction to move on.

On the 3rd day, we rose up enough strength to start Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with God's leading us all the way!
Even the Taylor logo that people see, God gave Cynthia Martin a women of God he put in our life to Help design our "T". It usually takes her 6 to 8 weeks to create a logo on any given project. She did it in three days with God's help!
After 3 weeks of searching for a new building, we found the building that we are in now and the rest is history!
When I think of the number 3, I think of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost! Blessed the Trinity....They are One. Hallelujah, what a Blessing!!!

So now it's been 17 years and we are still here! God has been so good through all of this. I guess that my story is for all women who are going through breast cancer, sickness of any type. Divorce, Finances are any troubles in your life,  I want to encourage you that we have to walk by faith and not by sight! Even in your darkest hours, we have to learn to praise Him! The more we praise Him, our blessing will over take us!
I'm not telling you what I heard, I'm telling you what I Know for myself!

Here's the process that I went through
Having breast cancer is on thing but having cancer, your business closing, people lying on you and trying to destroy you in the community! And only having $150.00 dollars to your name! House note due, public service, phone bill, and car not just to name a few, I hadn't even started chemotherapy yet. Oh yes, let's not forget the medical bills coming already from the breast cancer surgery. You want to talk about a very, very dark cloud. So dark that only God and His mercy can clear the way for you.

When I first took my chemo(1 of 8) treatments I was so scared! You hear all the scary stories of how "the red devil" is the term used for the chemo medicine that enters your veins and the unknown of what's going to happen is very frightening to say the least. Before I even started the chemo, I had to get a port put in my chest because my veins were to small to take the large needles. This way was to make it much easier than shooting you in your arms, but, I didn't think so. Every time I was shot in my port it would sometimes feel like scorpions were stinging me in my chest, I would just pray as the word says in Isaiah 53:5 "By His stripes I'm healed. "By His stripes I'm healed." Those words would help me to calm down. Some of the after effects were horrible! To name a few, my first chemo, I had severe diarrhea for 3 days. The second treatment, I had can-core sores in my entire mouth. I could not even stand water to touch my mouth; and what was difficult for me was the first 2 weeks was my energy was completely zapped. Right when your strength is coming back, you have to go back for another treatment and I would say, here we go again.
I forgot to mention the radiation every 5 days with 34 treatment coming at you  from 2 angles and the doctor tells you, we have to make sure you hold perfectly still because the position where your breast cancer was, we don't want to burn a piece of your lung. Can you imagine laying on a table 34 times and hoping they don't misjudge your position when you're still being burned daily and your spot on your breast turns so black from being burned everyday, But you still continue to trust GOD!

After my first treatment, the doctor told me after my 2nd treatment I would loose my hair; I flipped out! I had always had lots of hair, and to know that I was going to go completely bald, was one of the darkest days of my life! You see, women, we find our glory in our hair, short, long, kinky, black brown, or what ever color, it is our crown.
As I thought of an old saying, "Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder."   I soon found out that, "Beauty is in the middle of your Heart." I had to dig way down in my soul to find out what inner beauty I had, because , when my hair began to fall out in patches and I had bald spots, I knew my husband would see me on another level that neither he or I would have thought would ever come our way, but it did.
When trouble comes your way you deal with it, putting God first!  That day I will never forget. Three days later losing my hair in patches, I had my husband shave my hair. He was crying and so was I, but.... we made it. To God be the glory!!
I thank God for the strength that my husband showed that day as well as my entire ordeal. He would make me laugh when I couldn't. He would tell me I was pretty when sometimes I thought I was so ugly.  But most of all he stood tall through it all and I thank God for him in my life. I found out, that when men love God first, then they know how to love you, So for men that may be reading this story, please remember to love and support your wife or companion, It is such a healing process for whatever she's going through in her life.
Well after I got over this dark cloud, I had many more to come. Soon I learned that, troubles don't last always and Psalms 121:2 states," When you look to the hills from whence cometh your help, your help comes from the Lord"; And I can say that with conviction!

At the time of this major storm in my life, I felt like Job who lose finance, health, business, and many other factors. But like Job, I kept my faith and would just stay on my knees giving God the praise, even when I was sometimes so weak, I could not even raise my head.
So in closing, it's been 17 years, but April it will be 18! Taylors Funeral Home is truly blessed! My hair is back! My color is back from radiation burning me so bad. And most of all, I am Healed from breast cancer, Hallelujah!!
I count this all joy for only God can restore you completely and He did!

She is a 25 year breast cancer survivor. She says 3 times a charm and this rings true for her. Her cancer accrued twice in the left breast and once in the right.  This was the worst time of her life. She said with each treatment each time she lost her hair, and she became sicker. She did not want to share her journey. Pam says her faith in God, and being a mammographist and she was not only able, to do her job, but it allowed her and opportunity to share her journey with other women.

Moving forward without direction is difficult. Who has time to read when you're falling off a precipice? I was thirty nine when I finally recognized that I needed a map, that was many years ago. I did what anyone who knows that they are lost.

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer, my first thought was “God, why me?” But now after everything that I’ve been through, I can say…”Why not me.” Because of my experience, I am now able to help so many people in my ministry. I went through eight treatments of chemotherapy, going completely bald and thirty two treatments of radiation, body being burned from radiation.
I thanks God for my healing and my full recovery from this horrible disease.  I am now a spokesperson for women and men who have experienced breast cancer.
